Memoirs of a geisha

I read the book and now I have watched the movie. The movie is alright. You can't expect all the details to fit into a 2hrs + movie. I must say gong li acting as hatsumomo is really impressive! Her acting is really good. zhang ziyi is ok.

While everyone busy picking mistakes on their spoken english. I respect them putting in so much effort to pick up a new language. After all, this is not their mother tounge. If we can cheer for a foreigner if he/she can say hello in chinese, shouldn't we be proud that these chinese actresses learn the language in such a short time and apply it with their acting skills?

Chinese New Year

Accompanied mother to chinatown today. That place has absolutely fantastic atmostphere if you wanna experience chinese new year. However, the maximum time I can tahan the heat was really short. I almost melted! I always thank the inventor of air conditioner. One of the greatest invention of the entire universe!

I realise there are many traditonal things/practise that I am not aware of. I wonder, how long can all these traditions pass down with ppl like me in this generation who simply do not know what is going on. All the things I know about chinese new year is so superficial compare to my mum. Food to buy, to cook, to deco, to clear all needed to be done before... gosh..I am starting to have headache. Just imagine there are so many festivals for us! I am always proud to be chinese, a race that has such rich culture. I just have to learn more about all these festivals and traditions and most importantly NOT FORGET ANYTHING.

Craving

I had pork knuckle last saturday (see right). Have been thinking of the sauerkraut for the whole day and decided will go home to cook some! yum!

I don't know how long I can tahan until I get busy again? Kinda frustrated as something is just beyond my control.

I have been feeling better and better these few days. Did someone secretly gave me a magic potion that I can give you up?It's defintely a good thing, I am not complaining. Although we still chat regularly, the feeling is some how slightly different. It might have evolved into a better friendship. I become someone who listen to your problems and share whatever things you want to... and vice versa. I wish you happy in return to all the happy time you gave me. (try not to remember the bad) Now I understand whatever you said earlier, because it took me so long to catch up with you.

Wish me luck!

Oh moh di di

hmm.. saw many weirdos these few days and some of them are pissing me off. PMS?? not so early leh.. here are some examples of weirdos that piss me off. Jotting it down and read it later.. then I can decide if I am having PMS.

People who:
  • are rude
  • MEN who don't give way when boarding shuttle bus
  • have B.O. and DON"T do anything about it
  • wear smelly clothes
  • speak with slang and think that = good english
  • selfish
  • think the world revolves around them
  • steal credit just because they are at higher post (with air head)

weekend

Last night dinner at german restaurant was fantastic. Friends were worried that the place will remind me so much about you. Fortunately it hasn't affected me at all, I guess it is a good sign of letting things go. It's really nice to have a friend's gathering especially meeting up with friends you have not seen for quite some time. AND of course... to meet some new people. I was really lucky there ain't any ultimate bitches in the group. A friend's girl friend is just plain bimbo + irritaing attitude + selfishness (gosh.. can go on and on) . I am not so proud to tell anyone we came from the same school.

Finally done with my performance appraisal. I am contented as there are more new work to be done for this year. Can anyone tell me how I can push them to finish all the manuscript asap? I need some publications after working in this place for 5 years =(

A colleague offered to give me ride to work since he is staying near my place. Its a very generous gesture. I hope he is serious because I don't like to be a leech. Don't want it to be a burden for him. Oh well.. we'll see how it goes. Let's try for a few days.

Don't phunk with my heart

What is cheating? Who define cheating? Explaination stated in dictionary as follow: To deceive by trickery. Everyone understands?

When 2 persons involve in a relationship, If your mind is thinking of someone but you are in a relationship with another, is this consider cheating? To my opinion, that is cheating........... emotionally. As long as you don't spill the beans out, no one will know, so who cares? But when this progressively become a catalyst to break up a so called "problematic" relationship. What is that then? Jumping into someone's arms when you are in a "rebound" state. I bet friends will start to used names such as bastard, slut, bitch, asshole.. etc... for those who initiate the break up. Yes....I know its unfair and its none of their business. Mouth is on their head, what can you do?

In a woman point of view, as long as a man is thinking of some other women, he IS cheating. It is a known fact that couples will have crushes on other people (on and off). To all the men out there, its better not to say it out! Unless, you want a big fight to "spice" up your relationship. To a man, as long as they have not slept with the girl, they are not cheating, even if they have kissed them. To me, always be fair, if a man wants to have someone out there, allow your girl to do the same thing.

Ultimately, there is no right or wrong in relationship. Don't get too affected about what other people say because there are only 2 persons involved. Just try to consider how the other party feel. Afterall, it maybe a vicious cycle!

Just another public holiday

Shocking news announced on early Monday morning. A friend announced he got married over the weekend. Well its surprising more than shocking... really. I am happy for him. He wanted to keep it low as this is personal, shouldn't be talked about at work. Well, we all gossips don't we? gossip gene is highly expressed in women especially!

Another friend had a little accident at home. Fell down and her head hit right on and broke the aquarium. Fortunately she suffer no serious injuries.(phew)

Many things had happen in that 10 days of 2006. Good and bad. Let's hope Chinese New Year will bring everyone better luck!

Started my patchwork project for my little niece (due in march). Its more laborous than what I thought it would be. Ah well.. I will get it done before she arrives. A public holiday turned into another babysitting day for me. Its kinda tiring but with a little fun. Lots of laughter in the house when the little one is around. On the other hand, imagine you have to read the three little pigs for 5 times followed by another new story before he agreed to go for his afternoon nap!

A friend introduced some not so mainstream music to me. I quite like it actually. Its nice to listen to something new and also enriched my knowledge in this aspect so I won't feel too left out when friends talk about it. I quite like one of them...island in the sun.

Joyeux Noel

Watched merry christmas(Joyeux Noel) tonite. It's a nice movie, simple but good. I have watched a few war shows so far and I cried for everyone of them....(this one as well) somehow war movie has this effect on me. well as well as any disasterous news clips.

Its really nice to catch up with a friend whom I have not seen for the past year. We have known each other for 10 years (gosh...). Although I may not be his best friend, I am glad he is there whenever I needed someone to listen to me and also....wake me up with a slap. Thanks buddy. We always hear rumours about how our classmates and lecturers are doing after graduated. Remembering those days when we were in school doing silly things, skipping lectures, afternoon nap between classes, suffer from panic attack after exams and ...most importantly, copying each other's homework!

Magicland

A harmless joke, your response hurt me again. You tried your best to drop hints everywhere. I can't simply ignore it. Its my turn to get it from the vicious cycle. Yes, its my turn to say why didn't you even give us a chance? Ironic! Merry go round, when is your turn to experience what I have been through? All these time, I am still in the same shit hole. I didn't move on? Like you always say I don't know. Whatever you do, is it just a friendly gesture? Or you just think that the distance between us is such a big barrier? I dare not ask anymore, I don't want to hear things I have heard before. I am the one who is hanging on that little hope its still possible. I don't understand why I am so stubborn. I don't know how much I can tolerate. I am losing myself again.

Closure

The outcome of leaving the note of rejection was an email in return. An email that I don' really wanna read. It was a closure indeed. I wondered if I have done anything that gave him the idea that it's ever possible between us. When someone is in love, probably see things differently, interprete action with a twisted meaning to comfort themselves. At the same time, I might have thought too much about all the gestures from you. The presents, the calls, whatever it is. How much do I need to do to tell myself not to step on shit?

Read some friends' blogs, coincidentally, we have been doing a lot to please people around us. Is it the peer pressure? Is it we have been cultivated not to have too much ME ME and ME culture? We are all afraid to be judged by friends and love ones. Therefore, doing things what other people think is right and ignore what is going on in our mind. What shall I do?

A dear friend told me about her break up and a start of a new relationship within 2 weeks. Pretty fast and hard to swallow. After hearing the whole story, everything seems to be so much clearer. Intention of people involved are not simple. Two different incidents are linked up. I guess I was pure unlucky to get caught into one of the unfortunate events. Whatever it is, I hope everything work out nicely now.

la la la la

Ha ha, you received the gift finally! I was (still am) on cloud 9 when you told me you like it and you will use it. I simply ignore if you are really going to.. hee hee. All the hard work is not wasted!

Thinking back, I think I might have over reacted upon receiving the flowers. Need to do some self serach on this incident. Afterall, he has his rights to do whatever he wants to and I shall just react politely.

Friend out there, I hope you will recover soon. Remember there are friends back home who care for you. Thanks for listening when I feel like shit. Don't worry calling me anytime of the day whenever you need a listening ear.

I wish I can start some new work myself. I feel very unproductive whenever I sit in front of the monitor at work. Give me the mind of a clever scientist!

Note: some PhDs are just Mr. know all, but with air head attached.

Happy New Year!

A year has passed. Me have a pile of DVDs accompaning me to past the rest of the year(the last 12 hours of 2005). Indeed, not much life to spend a NYE like this, but I am lazy! Should draw out new year resolution! Hope its not too much like Bridget Jones... =)
  • cut on smoking and drinking... (hmm already quite little)
  • lose weight ( ok, I will keep this)
  • no more ma ma panty (not that i have any).
  • stay happy and healthy, continue to exercise at least twice a week
  • Hope everything will be smooth sailing and no more tears (oops is this registered by Johnsons & Johnsons?) don't get hurt again
  • Don't fall for wrong guy which contribute to the above mentioned
  • Brush away unwanted people in my life .
  • Meet more friends!
A friend poured out her mum is not supporting her break up with her boy friend by not talking to her. Well, according to her, the whole family is not talking to her! I feel sorry for her and of course hoping I can offer a helping hand. But I guess, its difficult since the whole family is involved. All i can do is listen. Deep in my heart, I appreciate my family especially my mum for not pressurizing me when I ended the last relationship.

The bloody phone is still not working after repair. What did the Finns do to my phone? Waste my time to repeat the same process again. Hope I won't yell at them as I am having PMS now. Oh well, bought a top with 50% off. Great deal indeed! Retail therapy has proven its therapeutic effectiveness again!
